What an absolutely lovely day it was today. It was close to 80 down here in Cape May, and with the beach only half a block away, I seriously considered leaving early and camping out by the waves.

Chet was outside this afternoon, cleaning windows. But he can't fool me. I know what he was doing. Windows... darn, I wish I had thought of that! Hector, our maintenance man, has been working diligently on getting the Angel ready for the upcoming warmer weather. Painting some of the wicker, refurbishing the bicycles.

We did have the bikes out today and will probably putting them out daily from now on. (As long as it's not raining.) Cape May is such a great biking town. In the spring and summer, it's my second favorite thing to do, after going to the beach.

Lorie is in Myrtle Beach attending the PAII national conference this week. PAII stands for Professional Association of Independent Innkeepers. I'm sure she'll come back with all kinds of new ideas, new marketing tips, maybe some new recipes.

I sit in the Victorian lobby of AOTS, listening to a Mozart concerto shortly after daybreak...and the perk of the coffee urn. The table is set for breakfast in the dining room - the china place settings wait patiently for arrivals - my coffee wafts through the air in my direction. Mom sleeps quietly in Room 3...this is bliss - candles on the hearth, tapestry loveseats, potpourri in a crystal bowl on a granite clad mahogany coffee table. For six long months my thoughts are here...for four days my heart is here...where the ocean meets antiquity. Each year I come to meet Spring...the chirping of birds, the peeking of buds, the discovery of life renewed. My spirit, like a bear lying dormant through the winter, awakes from its slumber, rubs the rest from its tired eyes and takes its flight.

I feel closest to my God near the ocean. So, as long as I am able, I will voyage to Cape May in Spring to find rest and spirit for the summer season. Returning in the Fall - as I am known to do...to tuck things in for my next winter solstice. God is great that I am blessed so abundantly, but especially when I find him in this place.

I reserve the same room twice a year every six months...I wish it could be more. Time passes differently at AOTS.

5/21/2007: Just returned from an absolutely fabulous weekend at the Angel with my sisters. This place is so charming, the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys the quaint, relaxing charm of a B & B. If you are looking for a place that is going to make you feel like you just spent the weekend relaxing with your favorite friends or relatives, check it out. No cold, snooty, big hotel atmosphere here.
Thanks Angel staff for making our annual sister's weekend one of the most memorable!
